helping humanity come out of the darkness.

I'm Tere González Garcia, co-founder of “Liter of Light Mexico”.

What we have to do for 2030 is to come out of the dark, starting – I think – with simple things.

At Liter of Light, we started with a simple plastic bottle, filled with water and bleach, that was installed in carton, wood or metal roofs. This invention provided the same light as a 55-watt bulb but working solely by solar ray refraction. Later on, our solution evolved and we added a solar panel, a battery, an LED light, and a circuit to the bottle with the goal to store daytime energy and have light even during nighttime. Our lamps consist of a very low-cost, ecologic and sustainable light-source that everyone can build, including the 1.2 billion people that have no direct, safe or affordable access to electricity. Simple things can be extraordinary. It is smart to start small, small, like a “Liter of Light”.
